'City Flowers', mixed media on paper... 35.5" x 26.5". A painting based on a digital collage I created from various textures I photographed during walks around the Lower East Side in NYC; Delancey Street, Christie, Lafayette Street, etc.
This part of town is not 'beautiful' in any classical sense of the term. The architecture is rough and it is almost entirely devoid of nature. Everything is paved. You're lucky if you see a dandelion sprouting up through a crack in a sidewalk.
But it IS an area with a lot of cool stuff to photograph. So... the 'city flowers' in this painting are created from the various bits and pieces I photographed in that area.'
