Featured Editorial Illustration Commissions
Editorial illustration provides an opportunity to work within a conceptual framework defined by someone else: specifically, the writer. The artistic challenge is to ‘get inside’ the intent of the writer, to create an image that adds emotional resonance and insight. This kind of ‘limited palette’ gives one the freedom to explore creative solutions that may otherwise be undiscovered. Ideally, the resulting illustration becomes an extension of the writing, creating a sum for the reader (and viewer) that is greater than the parts.
